Some of my favorite things to eat are salads, especially in the summertime. They're good for a light meal and have a wide variety of flavors. Whether it be Asian, Italian, Mexican, American, or super healthy, there is a salad for everybody.
My summertime delight is a caprese salad, not your normal salad filled with greens and found in a bowl. The Italian flag determines what the components of the salad are. Red tomatoes, green basil, and white mozzarella are the three simple ingredients to make the summery salad a backyard dish.
To make the dish even more flavorful, add extra virgin olive oil, along with slat and pepper. Olive oil is a popular dressing added to almost everything in Italy's cuisine. It's similar to butter here in America, excluding the fats, making it health to use in cooking. Not only that, but they make a great dressing to any salad.
I absolutely love a caprese salad for lunch or snacking because it's so light and healthy. It's easy to make and a great barbecue side dish in the summer! I highly suggest making it for your next backyard bash or party:) enjoy!
My blog is all about faith, family, friends, and food:)
